Eastnor Castle Samovar

This samovar although perhaps not of great monetary value as historical objects go was of sentimental value to its owners. The careful beating out of dents and internal patching achieved the owners desired results.

The repair and conservation of a brass samovar from Eastnor Castle. The samovar had suffered substantial damage over its life with splits and dents in many areas of the brass surface. The splits were mended using internal brass patches and solder and the dents gently beaten out. The samovar was then gently polished and coated with a protective layer of microcrystalline wax.
